Glen Rose Shopping Day Trip from DFW & Granbury | FEAST

FEAST storefront with spring basket arbor decorations

A new favorite outfit, a gift that’s just right, and time to linger over lunch. We can get behind a day like that.

If you’re looking for a shopping day trip from Dallas–Fort Worth or somewhere new to explore after Granbury’s square, come see us at FEAST in downtown Glen Rose, Texas. You’ll find women’s clothing, accessories, home finds, and gifts on the historic courthouse square, with people who enjoy helping you find something that feels like you.

Bring a friend, make plans with your mom, or take a little time for yourself. Browse at your own pace. Try something that catches your eye. Leave room for lunch and a little wandering. Here’s how we’d make a day of it, y’all.

Start your Glen Rose shopping day at FEAST

FEAST is at 116 NE Barnard St, Glen Rose, TX 76043, right on the historic downtown square. Start here and give yourself time to see what catches your eye.

Maybe you’re looking for something to wear to dinner next weekend. Maybe you spot a print you love or a gift that immediately makes you think of someone. That little moment of discovery is one of our favorite parts of shopping, too.

Tell us about the occasion on your calendar, how you like your clothes to fit, or the person you’re buying for. Our team knows the products we carry and can help you compare options, pull an outfit together, or choose a gift that suits both the recipient and your budget.

We have two fitting rooms, and we encourage you to use them. See how a piece feels, try it with another option, and ask for help when you want it. We want you to leave happy with what you chose and excited to wear or use it.

You don’t need an appointment or a particular occasion. Come in during regular hours and enjoy a look around.

A little something for your home—or someone else’s

There’s plenty to browse beyond your closet. Explore home pieces, kitchen and entertaining finds, fragrance, gourmet foods, and gifts alongside the clothing and accessories.

For the friend who’s hard to shop for, tell us a little about them. We specialize in helping you find a gift that feels personal. Gift receipts and handwritten messages are available by request, and we can discuss a custom gift basket or ship directly to the recipient. You get to choose it in person; they get a thoughtful surprise.

Already shopped Granbury’s square? Come explore Glen Rose

Enjoyed a day on Granbury’s square and ready for another good find? Make Glen Rose your next shopping stop. Or put us first—we’d love that, too.

The drive from Granbury to Glen Rose is roughly 20 minutes, depending on where you start and traffic. Visit Granbury also describes Glen Rose as a short, 20-minute drive. Check live directions for your own route, then head for FEAST on the square.

You can keep your Granbury hotel and spend part of the day with us, or visit both squares on a shopping outing. Start at FEAST, explore more of downtown Glen Rose, and settle in for a meal. That’s a perfectly good plan all by itself.

Already know your favorite Granbury stops? Add a new favorite in Glen Rose. You can start your next shopping day right here with us.

How far is Glen Rose from Dallas and Fort Worth?

For planning, Glen Rose’s tourism office gives estimates of about 1 hour 15 minutes from Fort Worth and 1 hour 30 minutes from Dallas. Your starting point and traffic will affect the drive, so check your route before leaving.

Once you’re here, you can build a relaxed day around shopping and lunch, or add an attraction if your group wants a bigger outing. Downtown, Dinosaur Valley State Park, and Fossil Rim are separate stops, so leave time to drive between them.

Leave a little breathing room in the plan. A good find, a good meal, and an afternoon you enjoyed are plenty to bring home from a day trip.

Where to eat in Glen Rose: our FEAST favorites

We have opinions about the lunch portion of a shopping day, too. BAKED, WhiskyWoods, and Grumps are three of our personal favorites, and each gives you a different way to make a meal part of the outing.

  • BAKED Bread & Pastry Co. is a bakery-and-café stop at 101 East Elm Street, just off the square. Check the Glen Rose location’s hours; BAKED also has a Granbury location.
  • WhiskyWoods is a downtown steakhouse and whisky bar at 101 Vine Street. Make dinner part of the occasion, check reservation options, and get your shopping in beforehand.
  • Grumps Burgers is our recommendation when a burger sounds just right. Its current Glen Rose address is 119 Paluxy Summit Blvd, and the location lists Sunday as closed.

There are more ways to feed a day out. Storiebook Cafe offers sandwiches, soups, and salads in a book-filled setting. Hammond’s BBQ serves smoked meats and sides, and Riverhouse Grill offers dining in a historic home and Sunday brunch.

For a riverfront stop, look at Sexton Mill. Check its live-music calendar if you want to stay into the evening, along with kitchen hours if you’re planning a meal. And if the day calls for something sweet, Shoo-Fly Soda Shop and Pie Peddlers are options around the square.

Pick the meal you’re most excited about and check its current service hours. We fully support leaving room for dessert.

What else can you do in Glen Rose?

Shopping can absolutely be the main event. If you want to turn your FEAST visit into a fuller day or weekend, Glen Rose gives you plenty to work with.

See real dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park

Dinosaur Valley State Park is one of our first recommendations for visitors. The chance to see real dinosaur tracks in the Paluxy River bed is a pretty good reason to bring the whole family along.

Track visibility depends on river levels and weather. Check the park’s updates and reserve a day pass before you go, especially on popular dates when the park can fill up.

Plan a wildlife outing at Fossil Rim

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center offers a self-guided wildlife drive and guided safari experiences. It’s another place we love pointing visitors toward when they’re making a Glen Rose trip into an adventure.

Fossil Rim estimates about two hours for the drive, with longer visits possible on busy days. Choose your tickets, give the outing enough time, and plan your downtown shopping around it.

Visit Dinosaur World with the family

Dinosaur World has life-size dinosaur models, interactive exhibits, and a dinosaur-themed playground. It’s a separate attraction from Dinosaur Valley State Park, where visitors go to see real tracks in a natural setting.

Choose the experience that fits your family, then save the other for another visit. Having a reason to come back is never a bad thing.

Take a break at Big Rocks Park

Big Rocks Park is a neat stop in town, with large rocks and a setting along the Paluxy River. Add it to your plans for an outdoor break or picnic. If you’re hoping to get in the water, check weather and river conditions first.

Look closer at Glen Rose’s history

As you explore downtown, look for the petrified wood incorporated into Glen Rose’s architecture, including the courthouse bandstand and star-shaped fountain. It’s one of those local details that makes wandering the square more interesting. Texas Highways tells the story behind it.

Art and history lovers can also look into Barnard’s Mill & Art Museum and the Somervell County Historical Society Museum. Confirm their opening arrangements before visiting.

Easy ways to plan your Glen Rose day trip

A little time for yourself

Come browse FEAST at your own pace, try on whatever catches your eye, and let us help if you want another option or a styling idea. Follow it with lunch, a coffee, or a quiet look around downtown. You can have a lovely day here without filling every hour.

A girls’ day or mother-daughter shopping trip

Meet up, head to Glen Rose, and give yourselves time at FEAST to try on outfits, compare favorites, and find a gift or two. Add BAKED if its hours fit your plans, explore the square, and finish with a meal. Good company does a lot of the planning for you.

A shopping day from Granbury

Spend part of the day on each square, or come straight to Glen Rose for a change of scenery. Put FEAST first if we’re the stop you’re most excited about, then build lunch and more browsing around your visit. Check shop hours in both towns so the day stays easy.

A family outing with time for shopping

Choose one major attraction—Dinosaur Valley, Dinosaur World, or Fossil Rim—and leave room for FEAST, a meal, and a treat. For another activity around town, look at the CVB’s free Dino Discovery Pass, a self-guided dinosaur hunt. Its current pass page has participating locations and instructions.

A shopping trip that continues to Hico

When customers ask where to go for more shopping after Glen Rose, we recommend Hico. Start with FEAST and the Glen Rose square, then continue to historic downtown Hico if you have time for the extra drive and another round of browsing.

And while you’re there, OmaLeen’s is our dining recommendation. We think it’s fantastic. The restaurant at 111 S Pecan Street describes its food as chef-driven, locally sourced, and made from scratch. Check service hours and reservation options before planning your meal.

Glen Rose and Hico make a lovely shopping-focused outing. If you also want several major attractions, give yourself a weekend to enjoy it all.

Make a weekend of it at historic Oakdale Park

Bringing the RV or thinking about staying longer? Oakdale Park opened in 1925 as a campground and motor court and continues to offer RV and lodging options at 1019 NE Barnard St in Glen Rose.

An overnight stay gives you more room for shopping, dining, and exploring without squeezing everything into the drive home. Check Oakdale’s current accommodations and amenities for your dates.

For another reason to gather, look at our public FEAST & Create workshops. They’re a chance to try something, enjoy good company, and spend time together. Check the individual listing for the activity, date, tickets, and availability, then plan a little shopping around it.

Plan your visit to FEAST

Check with us about holiday hours before a special trip. For more happenings around town, visit the Glen Rose events calendar, and confirm restaurant hours or attraction reservations as you put your day together.

Come with your people or come enjoy a little time of your own. We’d love to help you find an outfit you feel good in, a gift that makes you think of someone, or a little something that makes everyday life more enjoyable.
